Exfoliation – How and Why?

Exfoliation – How and Why?

The benefits of exfoliating your skin 2-3 times a week will make a huge difference to the appearance of your skin.

So, what happens when you exfoliate your skin? During your exfoliation process, you are actively eliminating dead cells on the surface of your skin allowing for your skin care products and moisturisers to effectively penetrate giving you a fresh, smooth look rather than a dull, flaky uneven tone.

There are a huge number of products to help you get rid of dead cells but which one is the best for you? Let us help you on your way to healthy, youthful looking skin.

There are different forms of exfoliation:

Physical or mechanical exfoliation in the form of body scrubs using sugar or coffee, jojoba beads, bamboo beads, microdermabrasion, body brushing and more. We recommend the use of planet and skin friendly bamboo exfoliator cellulose beads to naturally enhance the beauty of your skin by gently rejuvenating the skin’s surface cells. Unlike abrasive harsh exfoliators, bamboo beads clean the skin in a gentle manner and at the same time protect, moisturize and restore your skin’s appearance. Bamboo has an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and healing effect on the skin and includes antioxidant flavonoids as recent studies show. You only need a small amount for the entire face. Bamboo has no scent and is not sticky.

Chemical exfoliation including the use of fruit enzymes, lactic acids, glycolic acids (AHA’s), salicylic acid (BHA’s) all which gently rid your skin of dead cells, unclogging your pores to give you a bright, youthful appearance. AHA’s and BHA’s diminish wrinkles, signs of ageing, dullness and pigmentation by stimulating the skin cells and renewing your skin. They are very popular and often used in acne treatments.

Using fruit enzymes like  glycolic acids (AHAs), Salicylic acid (BHAs) and Lactic acids will allow for the treatment of a wide range of skin concerns.

These acids can diminish wrinkles, dull looking skin, pigmentation, unclog pores and lift out the trapped oil/dead skin and dirt of a blackhead.

Using an exfoliant that has the power of these acids along with the gentle and neutral smoothing of bamboo cellulose beads, will give the skin superior results.

These acids loosen and soften the dead, dry skin and the beads stick to and lift off, the dead skin.

This teamwork will give your skin an instant fresh glow. No need for photo filters to give you smooth skin!

We urge you to stay away from harsh products such as apricot kernel or granular products containing plastic or other chemical components especially on your delicate facial area. Bear in mind that the facial area is more sensitive than the rest of your body so please do not over-scrub your face especially around the eyes as this can lead to irritation and redness. Excessive sun exposure after exfoliation should be avoided.
